Miesha Theresa

Miesha Theresa Tate, an American mixed martial arts specialist. A former mixed martial artist, she competed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship and is an former UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion. From her early school days, the Tacoma native was very athletic. While she was studying at the Central Washington University, she started attending the mixed martial arts club when it was suggested by an acquaintance. In her amateur debut, she faced Elizabeth Posener (a Muay Thai master) at age 20. She first made her appearance professionally at the HOOKnSHOOT Women's One-Night Grand Prix event in 2007. After a period of two years, she won the FCF Women's Bantamweight Championship for the first time. Tate's style of fighting was focused on wrestling as well as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. She brought her a lot of recognition and admiration. The popularity of her style increased after she won her the Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight Championship shortly following her win. She's been a model not just for mixed martial artists, but many websites and publications, including 'ESPN The Magazine as well as Fitness Gurls.
